Case Study
Business Support Company

LEADING software design company Zolv proved to be the perfect partner for Leeds Chamber when it came to designing and launching its first interactive web site and the successful installation of the site has allowed Zolv to go on to win more contacts through ICT advisor Martin Jones from Leeds Chamber.

Leeds Chamber moved to 102 Wellington Street in April 2001, and as part of a modernisation process, decided to launch a fully interactive web site for its own marketing projects and business to business use by fellow Chamber members.

Staff at the Chamber were keen to use a new system that allowed them interactivity to update the web site on a daily basis with news and features. Though use of the new West Yorkshire eBusiness Club, the Chamber identified suitable companies to speak to. Software specialists Zolv were invited to present their ZCMS web management system as a possible solution after tendering.

Kim Johnston, communication and services manager, said: “We were particularly keen to have a website in place that could be updated on a daily basis without investing in training or hiring an in house webmaster.

“Zolv’s solution fitted that bill perfectly and within two weeks the system was up and running. If it wasn’t for the extra features we added to the site, such as the members’ directory and the improved menus and search facility, none of our visitors would have noticed the move. It’s a very user friendly system and if a news story comes in, it can be put on the system in a matter of minutes.”

Zolv is a software design company specialising in online applications, content management and database solutions. Over the last few years, the company has acquired some impressive clients, including Virgin Holidays, Olympic Holidays and Skandia Life.

Always on the look out businesses to work with through the eBusiness Club, Martin recognised an opportunity with Zolv in that they could provide practical leading edge solutions to his clients.

Following a vetting process, Martin was able to add Zolv to his list of preferred suppliers and has started to include them when the business case dictates, and therefore making recommendations to his clients

Leeds Chamber and the eBusiness Club encourage their members to do business with each other as much as possible and Zolv recently discovered the benefits of this interactive approach. During a recent progress preview, Zolv was chosen to supply their flexible content managed solution to fellow chamber members, Matrix Selection.

As an ICT advisor, Martin helps local businesses by investigating their general ICT queries, no matter how simple or complex the request, and also checks out initial eligibility for grant funding.

Martin specifically looks for suppliers which operate using Best Practice approaches and structured methods and techniques to enable businesses to obtain the best possible solutions for their ICT requirements.

The eBusiness Club may provide an alternative for information where the case dictates for impartial eBusiness support and can assist smaller businesses to develop and build capacity for success.
